Bnei Arazim - Gilad

Bnei Arazim – Gilad is a post-hospitalization boarding school that cares for 57 adolescents and their parents. It was established in 2002 in collaboration with, and under the supervision of, the Ministry of Welfare’s Division of Rehabilitation Services, and later, its Disabilities Administration.

Throughout the years, the Boarding School has been recognized by Israel’s Social Services as a solution for the most emotionally and behaviorally complex adolescents in the State of Israel.

The Boarding School has been operating with much success for over two decades now and has received a number of excellence awards from the Ministry of Welfare. At present, it includes 5 separate units: three unique Magen (Protection) units that provide an initial and continuous solution to adolescents referred to Bnei Arazim; and two Kidum (Advancement) units that take on teens from the Magen units and focus on advanced life skills.

The Bnei Arazim – Gilad Boarding School accepts adolescents between the ages of 12 and 16, and its units provide treatment till the age of 18. In exceptional cases, teens are allowed to continue for one additional year.

This facility fully addresses the teenagers’ needs. It offers a well-endowed kitchen and professional cooks who take care of meals; remedial lessons; emotional therapy; medical guidance by a doctor and nurse; numerous trips; and diverse extracurricular activities such as kung-fu, fitness room, horseback riding, working with animals, handball, music, surfing, and individual running training.

The teens’ parents receive guidance from the Family Therapy Unit. They implement the unit’s therapy plan while their child vacations with them, with the aim of allowing the youngster to come home and receive care in the community as soon as possible.
